Frozen Over

Submitted by Prentis Henry on Tuesday, 26 February 2019 - 15:47
Do you have ice build-up on the top of your refrigerator or cooling fins? You have a condensation problem! The biggest culprit of condensation is an air gap at the door gaskets. Check your gaskets for any obvious tears or cracks, if you are unable to see the problem with the eye. Take a piece of paper and close it in the door gasket. when you try to remove it you should feel resistance but be able to slide the paper easily. Slide the dollar bill all around the door, if at any point the paper moves between the gaskets without decent resistance you have an air gap. For some models you can simply adjust the door or replace the

AC/DC

We often get calls from customers about why their refrigerator won’t turn on even though it’s got 120 Volts at the plug, so I feel like a quick explanation of the electronics and electricity required would benefit everyone. There are three main systems in a standard ammonia refrigerator used by the RV and Boat industry. The control board system, the electric heating system, and the propane system. Each of these systems is powered differently. To fully operate the refrigerator in any mode all three systems must be in good working order. Each system and it’s primary criteria for correct operation are explained below. Control Board System: This system consists of the front panel controls as

Let me Vent!

Submitted by Prentis Henry on Tuesday, 19 September 2017 - 00:46
No I’m not going to whine and complain about anything or “tell anybody off”, I’m talking about letting a refrigerator vent.  Although we are talking about a hot head. Many times we get calls from customers with a complaint of the refrigerator working intermittently.  When they leave to go camping the fridge is working fine and kept doing so for the first day, but then the fridge starts warming up and eventually gets to a point where the food spoils over the following day.  The customer turns it off and uses a cooler for a few days and then decides to try the fridge again.  Overnight it drops into the correct temp range, they put

Level Up!

Submitted by Prentis Henry on Thursday, 17 August 2017 - 18:05
Do you think the leveling of the refrigerator really matters? Hopefully you said, yes… yes it does.  As a matter of fact it’s the most important aspect of all.  The ammonia absorption cooling unit operates utilizing a bubble pump similar to that of a percolator coffee pot.  Just as with a percolator coffee pot, if you were to hold it at an angle while trying to brew coffee you would be quite disappointed with the end result.  The bubble pump operates most efficiently in a completely vertical position that allows the liquid escaping from the top of the inner tube to be pulled back down to the reservoir where it will be incorporated again into the supply

Refrigerator Cooling Units

Submitted by Managed WordPress Migration User on Tuesday, 18 July 2017 - 20:53
It’s a summer day and the thermometer says “Hotter than the gates of hell”. You just want a nice cool bottle of water, but when you open your refrigerator you find a whole lot of “not quite cold” food and beverages. The thermometer inside says 50 degrees. Oh Crap! But the freezer is still cold. What’s going on with this thing. Unfortunately you most likely have a cooling unit problem. This can be a major issue if you’re using a commercial refrigerator, for a restaurant for example, and therefore you will have to call up a refrigeration service to get your fridge up and running ASAP. Whether it’s a small blockage in the perculator (bubble
