Summer Time Blues

As the summer approaches and the temperature gets higher and higher there are going to be many of you out there that notice your refrigerator isn’t getting cold enough anymore.
Most commonly we hear that the freezer is working just fine but the refrigerator isn’t quite getting to temperature. Most likely the culprit is a lowering of the pressure inside your cooling unit. As small pinholes start to develop in the steel coil the pressure will slowly drop off. In the cooler temperatures of the fall and winter these low pressures are not as evident because it doesn’t take as much effort to cool the ammonia gas due to the ambient air temperature. As the summer temperatures rise so does the effort the coil has to put out, and therefore a struggle begins.     My freezer on max setting will get down to -10 degrees but the refrigerator will not maintain a temp around 40 degrees. If we are in an area where the nighttime temps are mid it will get down to 40 but after the door is opened it will not get below 50 or 55 degrees, many time it will be in the . The cooling unit has been replaced. Any ideas?

    My Initial thought is a bad door gasket, but without seeing the unit it’s very hard to say. Where did you get the cooling unit installed?
